In Review – June 2019

Summer is in full swing and here’s some of the news dropped while we’ve been enjoying our vacations. The biggest news, in our opinion, is the first article. We’ve also ended with a video for your entertainment.

The USASF held a meeting with members of multiple parts of the industry, including event producers, coaches, choreographers, media, uniforms, vendors, and music producers, to discuss the image of All Star. We haven’t seen anything come from it yet, but it is a step toward the industry working together to address the image being portrayed like this:

In Review – April 2019

April means Daytona, ICU, and Worlds. Congratulations to all the new champions and good luck to those competing at May’s end of the season events.

In Review – March 2019

Happy April Fools’ Day, it’s Worlds month. That is not a joke, it is really Worlds month. First we have NCA College Nationals and good luck to all the teams competing in Daytona, then Worlds is upon us. Good luck with the final weeks of preparation and may you have the performance of a lifetime once you step on the floor.

In Review – October 2018

October came and went, bringing Fall and Halloween with it. This month I was reminded of cheerleading being used in headlines to catch the attention of readers. People published an article titled Cheerleader’s Alleged Admission that She Didn’t Want to Be Mom Is Admissible in Baby Murder Trial that had nothing to do with cheerleading knowing including cheerleading in the title would increase clicks. The article even starts with “The former cheerleader accused of” and the only other time cheerleading is mentioned is another reference to “the former cheerleader”, unless you count links to other articles related to the same story. It is a reminder of the gap between the attention and respect cheerleading is given.
