University of Minnesota and University of Cincinnati dance teams will represent the US as Team USA Dance in 2014 International Cheer Union Championship
Memphis, Tenn., – Team USA Dance has announced that the dance teams from the University of Minnesota and the University of Cincinnati have been selected as the 2014 Team USA Dance Team and will represent the United States at the 2014 International Cheer Union (ICU) Worlds Championship.
The ICU World Championship will take place in Orlando, Florida on April 24 and 25 at the Walt Disney World® Resorts. More than 80 nations are expected to send one team to represent their county in a variety of categories. The dance team portion of the event will include three categories, Freestyle (Pom), Jazz and Hip Hop.
The University of Minnesota will be competing in Freestyle and Jazz and the University of Cincinnati will be competing in the Hip Hop division.
Alysia Ulfers, Director of Team USA Dance says, “The University of Minnesota and the University of Cincinnati are both establish programs and have proven them themselves as not only competitors but also ambassadors to their university. I’m confident they will positively represent Team USA Dance both on and off the floor. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the coaches and the athletes as we compete on the global stage.”
USA Cheer is the governing body for sport cheering in the United States, and Team USA Dance and Team USA Cheer are the representative National dance and cheer teams. Team USA Cheer and Dance have been competing at the ICU Championships for the last five years and have won a cumulative 27 gold medals.
The ICU World Championship is the largest international cheerleading and dance team competition in the world. The ICU is now comprised of more than 110 member countries fielding a national cheer or dance team.
