Maryland Tabbed as NCATA Preseason Favorite
In a polling of NCATA coaches, Maryland emerged as the preseason favorite for the 2010‐11 season. The Terrapins, who return 20 student‐athletes for the upcoming season, received 24 of an available 25 points (with four first‐place votes) to beat‐out Oregon for the top spot.
The Ducks placed second in the poll, garnering a total of 21 points with one first‐place vote.
Fairmont, which also tallied one first‐place vote, placed third with a total of 17 points. Baylor accumulated 12 points to finish fourth, while Azusa Pacific (nine points) and Quinnipiac (seven points) rounded out the poll in fifth and sixth place respectively.
The 2010‐11 NCATA regular season begins Dec. 3 with the Fairmont‐Baylor contest in Fairmont, W.Va. The season concludes at the NCATA National Championship which is slated for April 7‐10, 2011 at the brand new Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.
