The International Cheer Union (ICU) is the International Governing Body for World Cheerleading and is comprised of National Cheer Federations from around the World. The United States’ National Cheer Federation is the USA Federation for Sport Cheering (USA Cheer).
USA Cheer is a not-for profit 501(c)(6) and is the national governing body for sport cheering (Bylaws). The 15-member USA Cheer Board of Directors is comprised or representatives of the following organizations:
- Active Athletes Assembly – 3 Directors
- US All Star Federation (USASF) – 3 Directors
- National Federation of State High School Associations (NHSF) – 1 Director
- American Association of Cheer Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) – 3 Directors
- National Alliance for School Cheerleading (NASC) – 4 Directors
- NCAA or Significant Collegiate Athletic Organization – 1 Director
