Dance Xtreme: 18 World Bids Up For Grabs

Minneapolis, MN (Sept. 29, 2011) – The DX AmeriCup National Dance Championship held annually in Minneapolis will be awarding up to 18 World Bids at the February 24 – 26, 2012, championship; the most dance world bids at one major competition this season.

Lisa Saline, originally with UPA and new founder and President of Dance Xtreme USA (DX), is thrilled with the direction of Dance Xtreme. “Being able to focus solely on dance and tailor the championship to dance athletes ensures a fantastic weekend for all involved,” says Lisa Saline. “We’re excited about the changes such as adding an actual dance to the end of the Awards Banquet & Gala on Saturday night and ending earlier on Sunday evening so teams can return home at a decent hour.”

The AmeriCup Championship has qualified teams to the Dance Worlds since it debuted in 2007 and currently holds the most Dance World Champions out of all event producers in the industry. Now offering up to 18 World Bids at the AmeriCup promises more opportunities for dancers to attend the World Championships at Walt Disney World in Florida. Why would you go anywhere else?

Peyton’s Promise Helps Complete Adoption Bridges a “Forever Family”

Minneapolis, Minn. (March 16, 2011) – UPA is thrilled to announce that Peyton’s Promise has completed its first fundraising goal and a beautiful baby boy has found a home in Oregon. Due to the generosity of many individuals and UPA’s donation from the AmeriCup Championship, Peyton’s Promise has helped make one families dream come true. Peyton’s Promise was designed to help bridge forever families; the first bridge has been built.

Baby Nathan was born to a teenage mother who decided that at this time, she was unable to parent him. Although she loves Nathan deeply, she felt it was best for him to be raised with a family who could care for him and who were better prepared to meet his needs. Oregon couple Mike and Theresa believed adoption was the best option for them to be parents and to begin their family. After seven years of infertility treatments, and the economic downturn, Mike and Theresa were not sure adoption would be possible financially. That’s when they applied for a grant from Gift of Adoption. Theresa shares, “The high cost of adoption made it seem out of reach for us to have a family, but knowing the assistance was available and with support of family, we hoped we could manage it.” Because of their open adoption, Nathan will have the birth family, along with Mike and Theresa, to love him. Their hope is that Nathan will always know just how much he is loved. With the help of Gift of Adoption grant generously funded by Peyton’s Promise, Mike and Theresa know that baby Nathan will spend the rest of his life knowing the joy of a loving family and the stability of a permanent home.

UPA launched Peyton’s Promise to help raise funds and awareness for adoption. The program is set-up so that 100 percent of online donations go towards an adoption. Lisa Saline, UPA President, and her husband Roger developed the program after adopting a baby girl in 2002 and quickly finding out how expensive the adoption process can be. Many friends and family of the Saline’s contributed to the fund. At the 2011 AmeriCup Nationals in Minneapolis, UPA donated $1 from every athlete package to the cause. Donations were also received from competitors and fans as well. UPA would like to thank all who contributed to Peyton’s Promise, and congratulate Mike, Theresa and baby Nathan on becoming a “Forever Family.”

UPA, along with Fine Designs Imprinted Sportswear, Cheer & Dance Extreme, and Cheer For A Cause are continuing fundraising efforts at upcoming events to help bridge a second family. Every $1 helps bring one family closer to bringing a child home. UPA is thankful for the generous support from media outlets around the country. The exposure has been fantastic and the word is getting out about UPA’s mission. Please join us in our efforts. Visit http://www.PeytonsPromise.net to show your support.
