Shane Womack To Be Inducted Into UPA’s CHEER Hall Of Fame

October 29, 2010 – Minneapolis, MN – United Performing Association (UPA) has unveiled its 2011 Hall of Fame class, which includes former cheerleader Shane Womack, now Director of Marketing for Inside Cheerleading magazine.

Recognizing outstanding individuals in the spirit industry, UPA established their Hall of Fame at its debut in 1988. Inductees are selected based on a variety of facets that may include coaching and/or participation, association development, judging, training, choreographing and positive promotion of cheerleading and dance.

This year, UPA is excited to bestow the honor to Shane Womack. With more than 15 years of experience in cheerleading at all levels, Womack has now incorporated his passion into his career. At Mississippi’s Mendenhall High School, Womack first got the spirit bug first as the “Tiger Mascot.” He then paved the way for others as the only male cheerleader at his high school. During his freshman year, Womack and his squad earned the title of MHSAA 4A State Champions. Pulling double duty as an All Star cheerleader, Womack worked his way up to a Level 5 cheerleader as part of the famed Central Mississippi Cheerleading program, known for its success in competition at the National level. As a member of the program, he competed at the inaugural Cheerleading Worlds, earning a sixth place finish. He continued his cheerleading career in college with Louisiana State University. Womack has now made a career out of his passion, serving as Director of Marketing for Inside Cheerleading Magazine and its sister publication Inside Gymnastics. Womack was recently elected to the USASF National Advisory Board. He also works in his spare time to credential coaches for the USASF as a National Associate and judges cheerleading competitions across the country. “From high school to All Star to college cheerleading, and even a stint as his school’s Mascot, Shane’s experience in cheer has included a broad spectrum of successful experiences, from the sidelines to the competition floor,” said Inside Cheerleading magazine publisher Chris Korotky. “He’s now able to use all of his experience in a career with Inside Cheerleading, and we’ve very proud of him and this great honor from UPA!”

UPA will present Womack with this honor at the 2011 UPA AmeriCup in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Please join us in congratulating him on this honorable distinction.
