The cheerleading and dance media partnered with the USASF to recognize a few of the outstanding members of our community.

REMINDER: Just over a week to submit nominations, so make sure to get your votes in! The official deadline is April 6, 2012.

Leadership Through Sportsmanship Award

AACCA, NCSSE and USASF Parents’ Action Committee (PAC) will sponsor the second annual Leadership through Sportsmanship award for all star cheerleading behavior on and off the competition floor. The top five nominees will be recognized and the award will be presented to the winner at the USASF VIP Reception held Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Walt Disney World Epcot World Showplace in Buena Vista, Florida.

Nominations: Nominees will be made by USASF members including gyms, parents, and event producers across the country. Each gym will receive a ballot on which they may nominate up to 3 events and the gyms that were memorable as encouraging, supportive, polite and sportsmanlike. Ballots must be submitted no later than April 1, 2011. The award sponsors will review the nominations, and a final decision on the winner will be announced April 7, 2011.

Criteria: Leadership is exemplified through attitude. Positive attitude is an attribute of sportsmanship. The Leadership through Sportsmanship award will be presented to the program whose attitude made other teams feel comfortable, encouraged and proud to be an all-star cheerleader. Such attributes will include the following:

  • Positive display of performance on the mat
  • Positive display at awards ceremony
  • Gracious winning and/or losing
  • Polite to staff and other teams
  • Prudent behavior at hotel and/or outside venue facilities
  • Positive representation of the program through all team members
  • Positive outward appearance, showing pride in one’s program throughout Event
