Kentucky’s difficult routine was not without a couple mistakes, but the fact that the Cats were able to perform in a high-pressure situation makes them deserving champions. While most athletic teams have dozens of chances to compete and hone their craft, the cheerleading title is decided in one weekend and just a few routines.
Memphis, Tenn., January 12, 2012 – Varsity is pleased to announce that Division 1A Finals in all categories will be available for live streaming on Sunday, January 15, during the National College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship.
For $7.99, cheer and dance team fans will be able to watch Finals as they happen during Day 2 of the National Championship. Full coverage of Division 1A Finals, featuring Cheer, Pom, Hip Hop, Jazz and the Awards Ceremony will begin at 1:30 EST on Sunday, January 15.

AACCA has updated the 2011-12 College Cheerleading Safety Rules with a slight modification regarding flip dismounts in Rule D-5-b.
The previous rule wording allowed single based front flip dismounts from shoulders to land in a cradle or on the performing surface with assistance from the base. However, the double base dismount only allowed landing in a cradle. The new wording now allows double based front flips from shoulder level to also land on the performing surface with assistance from at least one base. This rule modification will allow all-girl or small coed teams to more easily perform similar skills as full coed teams.
In addition, the previous wording stated that the landing on the performing surface was “on the feet”. This has been revised to state “on at least one foot”.
NCA College Nationals is this week in Daytona Beach, FL, with team competition days being Thursday, April 7th and Friday, April 8th.
The Inaugural Stunt National Championship will take place on Saturday, April 9th, also in Daytona Beach. Louisville and North Carolina State have advanced straight to finals and will compete against the top 2 teams from the preliminary round match between Cal Poly State, Framingham State, Georgia Southern, and Morgan State
The Inaugural NCATA National Championship will take place in Eugene, OR this weekend. The host, Oregon, is the top seed and has earned an opening round bye along with the second seed, Maryland. Round One, featuring Azusa Pacific versus Quinnipiac and Baylor versus Fairmont State will take place on Thursday, Round Two on Friday, and the National Champion will be crowned on Saturday.
UCA College Nationals took place on January 14-16 at Walt Disney World in Florida. Champions are listed below.
