2013 USASF VIP Gala & Awards

Worlds LogoThe VIP Gala & Awards is a celebration of excellence and accomplishment in All Star. Held the evening before The Cheerleading and Dance Worlds preliminary competition begins, coaches, program owners, event producers, media partners and industry affiliates gather to “kick off” Worlds weekend and to congratulate peers for their achievements.

Industry publications including Inside Cheerleading, CheerBiz News and The Cheer Leader Magazine, along with Dance Coach Association and the NACCC join the USASF in presenting the following awards annually. Each media partner creates and manages its own nomination and selection process. The USASF collected details from each partner and has posted them online so that members may see all awards processes in one location. Be a part of the process! Go nominate someone deserving today!

Nominations for 2013 Small Gym of the Year and Coach of the Year

Inside Cheerleading Magazine LogoThe staff at Inside Publications is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2013 Small Gym of the Year and Coach of the Year awards, presented by Inside Cheerleading magazine and Cheer Biz New, respectively.

This is the seventh year that that Inside Cheerleading has presented the Small Gym of the Year award, and the first year that Cheer Biz News will be presenting the Coach of the Year award. Central Mississippi Cheerleading (David & Kendall Hanbery) received the honor of Small Gym of the Year for the 2012 season, and Randall Harper walked away with the distinction of 2012 Coach of the Year.

Nominations for each award will be accepted through Friday, April 5. Finalists will be announced and online voting will commence on Monday, April 8 on www.insidecheerleading.com and www.cheerbiznews.com. Online voting will close Friday, April 12 and winners will be announced at the 10th Annual USASF Awards Gala in Orlando, Fla. on Friday, April 26.

Inside CheerleadingSMALL GYM OF THE YEAR Presented by: Inside Cheerleading Magazine

Award Qualifications: Must be a current USASF Gym Member in good standing and be defined by USASF standards as a “Small Gym” for the 2012 – 2013 All Star season.

Nomination Process: Nominations (in the form of formal letters of recommendation) will be accepted from various event producers who have the unique opportunity to work with gyms on a daily basis. Nominations should speak to how the small gyms conduct themselves during all facets of the event, including, but not limited to, registration processes/procedures, warm-up, competition, awards presentation, etc. Nominations/letters of recommendation should be sent to Shelly O’Brien, shelly@insidepubs.com. Nominations will be accepted from April 1–April 5.

Selection Process: Finalists will be announced and online voting will be opened to the industry April 8-April 12 via www.cheerbiznews.com and www.insidecheerleading.com.

COACH OF THE YEAR Presented by: Cheer Biz News

Cheer Biz News LogoAward Qualifications: Must be a current USASF Member in good standing and must have served as a coach of at least one team during the 2012–2013 All Star season.

Nomination Process: Nominations (in the form of formal letters of recommendation) will be accepted for individuals who have served as a coach during the 2012–2013 All Star season. Each nominee must receive three formal letters of recommendation, one from a parent of the program, one from a cheerleader of the program and one from a fellow coach/peer of the program. Nominations/letters of recommendation should be sent to Shelly O’Brien, shelly@insidepubs.com. Nominations will be accepted from April 1–April 5.

Selection Process: Finalists will be announced and online voting will be opened to the industry April 8-April 12 via www.cheerbiznews.com and www.insidecheerleading.com.

Congratulations Mary Fehrenbach

Mary Fehrenbach was named the Special Olympics North America Coach of the Year for 2011. Fehrenbach was one of the forces behind starting the Kentucky Elite Showcats, which pioneered special needs cheerleading programs.

US Finals: Where Do YOU Rank? It’s Time to Find Out!

After an AMAZING run at our U.S. Finals Championships, we are so proud to announce that The U.S. Finals is the LARGEST end of season series in the Spirit Industry! We started with nearly 30,0000 athletes on nearly 1,700 teams representing forty U.S. states and five international countries. After an intense review process, we have now narrowed down the finalists from all eight event locations, and determined winners is just over 100 divisions. What an accomplishment for these athletes to now know EXACTLY where they rank against all other teams in their division from coast to coast!

The U.S. Finals 2011 Spirit Ranking Shows begin today and will air throughout the week on www.theusfinals.tv! Tune in each night this week to watch the final rankings and learn who will be crowned the true U.S. Champions!

  • Monday, May 23, 2011 – All Dance Divisions
  • Tuesday, May 24, 2011 – All Rec and School Cheer Divisions
  • Wednesday, May 25, 2011 – Level 1 & 2 All Star Cheer Divisions

  • Friday, May 27, 2011 – Levels 4, 5, & 6 All Star Cheer Divisions

May 19, 2011- Westerville, OH – Three cheers for the iAward! The Independents completed their inaugural year of awarding the prestigious IEP iAward. The good sportsmanship and community involvement honor was announced at specific IEP events across the country and were dedicated to one team, coach, parent or athlete who demonstrated Integrity, Enthusiasm and Passion in the spirit industry.
